Jane Stewart Obituary

Jane Blanchard Stewart joined the church triumphant on January 18th. Jane was born on June 14,1943 to Hammond and Mary Blanchard and lived in Waynesboro for most of her life. She attended Waynesboro High School and North Georgia College. In 1961 she met the love of her life, Fred Stewart. They were married in 1963 and went on to raise their three children in Waynesboro. Jane stayed home with her children for many years and was an active Girl Scout leader for her girls and an active part of her son’s Boy Scout Troop. She taught at The Little Red Schoolhouse and went on to  work as a tutor and paraprofessional at the elementary school for many years. She also  volunteered at EBA as a bible study leader. Jane believed in raising her children to be active in the church and for many years she taught Sunday School and helped with vacation bible school. Her greatest desire in life was for everyone to have a personal relationship with God. She loved Waynesboro First Baptist and was well-loved and taken care of by her church family. She studied her bible faithfully and welcomed many friends into her home to join her in bible study over the years.

On Saturdays in the fall Jane could be found watching UGA football, but her favorite was watching tennis.

Her children will remember her as firm foundation and as a great listener. Many hours were spent sitting in her den with her patiently listening to many different stories.

She is preceded in death by Fred Stewart, her parents, Mary and Hammond Blanchard, and her brother, Hank Blanchard.

She is survived by her children, Rick Stewart  (Hope), Susan  Boatwright (John) and Sharon Stewart; grandchildren Ivey  Kophazy (Steven) , Shelby  Stewart, Will Boatwright , Emily  Marsh (Allen) , Niya Stewart, Trey  Stewart, and Rocky Stewart; and two great grandchildren, John Marsh and Stewart Kopazy, and a brother Phillip Blanchard (Coral).

She also had many nieces and nephews, to whom she loved and adored.

There will be a visitation at First Baptist Church at 2:00 , followed by a service at 3:30 with the Reverend Al Wright and Don Veldboom.
