Robert Van Williamson, Sr.

Robert Van Williamson, Sr. ,age 88, passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 after an extended illness.  Robert was a resident of Waynesboro and was a retired machinist and welder from Proctor and Gamble.  Robert was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in McBean, Ga. and was a 1955 graduate of Richmond Academy in Augusta.

He built his own home, loved to hunt, fish, and garden.  He was an avid outdoorsman, and  retired from the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife Gloria Sharpe Williamson, Waynesboro; his 2 daughters, Kimberly Williamson Lind, Evans, Ga., Kelly Williamson, Waynesboro, Ga., his 2 sons, Robert Van Williamson, Jr., Waynesboro, Ga., Keith Williamson, Appling, Ga., step-son Michael Dickey (Alana ), his brother Jerry Williamson, Waynesboro, Ga.; his 8 grandchildren, Catherine Williamson Price (Keith), Robert Van Williamson III, Blake Williamson, Trevor Adam Lind (Sarah), Lauren Whisper Daughtey ( Kyle ), Dannie Elliott James (Mackenzie); Ansleigh Yawn (Devan), Madison Dickey;  and 12 great-grandchildren.

A graveside Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 19th, 2024 at 5:00pm at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in McBean, Ga.  Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19th, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Burke Memorial Funeral Home Chapel prior to the service in McBean, Ga.  The Reverend Keith Cox of Waynesboro will officiate.
