Ethel Lucille (Ready) Watkins

Ethel Lucille Ready Watkins, of Blythe, Ga. died on December 22, 2022 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Wade Hampton Ready and Martha Cora Ford (Ready).  She was born in Barnwell, South Carolina and resided in Burke County the majority of her life. Ethel was a very industrious lady who worked hard to achieve what she wanted in life. With only a fifth grade education, she returned to school to earn a GED, then proceeded to graduate from Augusta College in 1977 with a Bachelors Degree in the Science of Nursing. She worked in Burke County and retired from Jefferson County Hospital in Louisville, Ga., after working to the age of 80.

Ethel loved to travel and did not let age slow her down, taking several trips west and even a cruise at the age of 92.  She loved to crochet and enjoyed giving gifts which she lovingly made by hand.  Ethel was preceded in death by 11 siblings, 5 sisters and 6 brothers.  Survivors

Include numerous nephews and nieces.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 26th 2022 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Alexander, Georgia, with visitation at the Church one hour prior to funeral.  Burial will follow at the Church cemetery.  Reverend Matthew Massey will be conducting the service along with Reverend Tim Parrish and Chris Wallace.  Pallbearers will be nephews, Austin Massey, Conner Massey, Tim Parrish, Ronnie Morris, Ryan Morris, and Chris Wallace.
