Mrs. Margaret Tucker Blount, age 93, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 27 at 11:00 AM in the Magnolia Cemetery, Waynesboro, Ga. with Rev. Erwin Veale officiating.
A native of Waynesboro, Mrs. Blount was born March 25, 1923 to Memory King Tucker and Margaret Whitehead Hill Tucker. She graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1939 before attending Queens College. Margaret landed her dream job as a Delta Flight Attendant. After marrying her childhood sweetheart, Dr. Carl A. Blount, Jr. she lived in Gainesville and Waynesboro where she raised her four children who were her pride and joy. She loved playing golf and watching sports and was known for her big smile, positive spirit and love she had for her family.
Mrs. Blount was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Susan Rockwell Garrett and Mary Elizabeth Evans. She is survived by her sons Carl Ashton Blount, III (Cindy) of Waynesboro, King Tucker Blount (Chris) of Athens; Leonard Hill Blount (Betty) of Statesboro, and daughter, Alva Blount Compton (Chip) of Savannah; grandchildren, Carl Ashton Blount IV (Elizabeth), Lanier Abbott Blount, Kingsley Blount Strong (Chas), Ashton Tucker Blount, William Carlton Blount (Lisa), Brandon Fisk Blount (Marion), Charles Bell Compton, Jr., Tucker Hill Compton, and Spencer Kelley Compton; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family request memorials be made to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Waynesboro.
