Funeral services for Tracy McKenzie Carter, age 90 of Waynesboro, Ga., who passed away on January 20, 2023, will be held on Monday, January 23rd, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro at 1:00 pm with Reverend Issac Salgado with burial to follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Mr. Carter was a lifelong resident of Waynesboro. He was a former owner of Carter – Ford-Lincoln dealership and was employed with the H.W. Stone Company as a lumber inspector. He was also owner and operator of the Builders Supply Company. Tracy was a veteran of the Korean War and held the rank of Sergeant and served with the Georgia National Guard. He was a member of the Waynesboro Masonic Lodge #274 and past President of the Waynesboro Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Alee Shrine Temple of Savannah, Ga. and was a member of the Sons of American Revolution. He further served as a member of the Board of Directors at Edmund Burke Academy.
Tracy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Celestine Irving and Robert Lawson Carter and seven siblings.
Survivors include his wife Sara Francis Stone Carter of Waynesboro, two daughters, Cathy Carter Harley (Herbert), St. Helena Island, S.C. and Leah Frances Chambers, Waynesboro., two granddaughters, Jessica McKenzie Harley, St Helena Island, S.C. and Sarah Morgan Chambers, Milledgeville, Ga. Active pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post # 120.
